Genesis 6:3

Genesis 6:3

NOT FOR LONG

Genesis 6:3 ("My Spirit will not abide in man for ever... his days shall be 120 years") marks the limit of divine patience before the Flood. It does not refer to general human longevity, but rather to the time of grace (120 years) given for repentance while Noah built the ark and humanity lived in corruption.

The central idea of Genesis 6:3 is that the Lord will not continue to deal with humanity indefinitely. Because man is flesh, there is a limitation to divine patience: the time until judgment is set at 120 years. This warning sets the stage for the flood and for Noah's salvation, showing both the gravity of sin and God's mercy in granting time for a response of faith.

In essence, the verse points to the need for a response in the face of impending judgment. The expression highlights human frailty and God's sovereignty in setting a deadline. From here, the text goes on to describe the instructions for the ark and Noah's life as an example of faith and obedience amidst the corruption of his generation.

Just as Noah was saved because of his obedience and found favor in God's eyes, we too can be saved from the tragedies that will come in the end times. If you are walking in disobedience and rebellion against God, please rethink your concepts and turn to Jesus. Amidst the corruption and evil that surrounds you today, how can you be like Noah and live righteously before God in your generation? By living righteously, like Noah, people on your right and left may commit wrongdoing, but you must be upright. Today and always, people are destroyed by sin; they harbor wickedness in their hearts, allow impure imaginations, and have evil thoughts. And God knows the heart, the innermost being of people; He sees us from the inside, our thoughts are visible to Him. So, strive to have a pure heart before God, and you will reap abundant life instead of destruction.
